In the world of music production, where creativity knows no bounds, one crucial decision often looms large for musicians and producers: choosing between a home studio and a professional recording studio. Both options offer distinct advantages and considerations, and the choice ultimately depends on the specific needs and goals of the artist or producer. In this article, we explore the pros and cons of home studios and professional studios to help you make an informed decision for your music.

Home Studios: The Creative Haven

Pros of Home Studios:

1. Cost-Effective:

One of the most significant advantages of a home studio is its cost-effectiveness. Setting up a home studio can be more budget-friendly than booking time in a professional studio, especially over the long term. Musicians can gradually acquire equipment and software as their budget allows.

2. Convenience and Accessibility:

Home studios offer unparalleled convenience and accessibility. Artists can record and experiment with their music at any time of day or night without scheduling constraints. This flexibility can be a game-changer for creative minds who prefer working on their own terms.

3. Comfort and Familiarity:

Home studios provide a comfortable and familiar environment for musicians. Being in a space where they feel at ease can enhance the creative process, enabling artists to express themselves more freely.

4. Control Over the Process:

Musicians have complete control over the recording and production process in a home studio. They can experiment with different sounds, instruments, and arrangements without time constraints or external pressures.

5. Learning Opportunity:

Setting up and running a home studio can be an educational experience. Musicians can learn recording and production techniques, which can be valuable for their music careers.

Cons of Home Studios:

1. Limited Resources:

Home studios may lack the advanced equipment and resources available in professional studios, which can limit the quality and depth of recordings.

2. Acoustic Challenges:

Achieving optimal acoustics in a home studio can be challenging. Background noise, sound reflections, and subpar acoustics can impact the quality of recordings.

3. Technical Expertise:

Musicians need to invest time in acquiring technical knowledge about recording equipment and software to make the most of a home studio.

4. Isolation:

Working alone in a home studio can lead to a sense of isolation, which may affect collaboration and creative exchange with other musicians and producers.

Professional Studios: The Industry Standard

Pros of Professional Studios:

1. High-Quality Equipment:

Professional studios are equipped with high-end gear, microphones, and outboard equipment that can significantly enhance the quality of recordings.

2. Experienced Engineers:

These studios often employ experienced sound engineers and producers who bring technical expertise and creative insights to the recording process.

3. Optimal Acoustics:

Professional studios are designed with acoustics in mind, providing optimal sound isolation and treatment for recording and mixing.

4. Collaboration Opportunities:

Professional studios are hubs for collaboration. Musicians can work with a team of professionals, including session musicians and backup vocalists, to elevate their music.

5. Time Efficiency:

Booking a professional studio allows musicians to focus solely on their music without worrying about technical aspects. This can lead to more efficient recording sessions.

Cons of Professional Studios:

1. Costly:

One of the primary drawbacks of professional studios is their cost. Booking studio time, hiring engineers, and using top-tier equipment can be expensive.

2. Scheduling Challenges:

Musicians may face scheduling constraints when booking time in a professional studio. Availability depends on the studio’s bookings and may not align with the artist’s preferred recording times.

3. Pressure and Stress:

Recording in a professional studio can sometimes introduce pressure and stress due to time constraints and the presence of a larger production team.

4. Less Familiarity:

Musicians may not be as familiar or comfortable in a professional studio environment compared to their home setups, potentially affecting their creative flow.

Making the Right Choice for Your Music

Thе decisiоn bеtwееn а hоme studiо аnd а prоfessionаl studiо ultimаtely depends on yоur unique circumstаnces аnd goаls аs а musiсiаn or prоducer. Нere аre sоme considerаtions to helр you mаke thе right chоice:

3. Technicаl Expеrtisе: Assess yоur technicаl knowledge аnd skills. Musiciаns аnd prоducers with а sоlid understаnding оf recоrding аnd produсtion tеchniquеs mаy еxcеl in а hоme studiо. If you lаck technicаl еxpеrtisе, а prоfessionаl studiо with experienсed engineers mаy be thе right chоice.

4. Creаtive Flow: Considеr where you feel most creаtively inspired аnd cоmfоrtаble. Sоme аrtists thrive in thе sоlitude оf thеir hоme studiоs, whilе othеrs drаw еnеrgy from thе collаborаtive environment оf а prоfessionаl studiо.

5. Sоund Quаlity: Evаluаte thе importаnce оf sоund quаlity for yоur рroject. If рristine sоund quаlity is pаrаmount, а prоfessionаl studiо mаy be thе bеttеr oрtion. Anywаy, mаny hоme studiоs cаn produсe еxcеllent results with thе right equipment аnd аcoustics.

6. Deаdlines аnd Scheduling: Think аbout yоur рroject’s deаdlines аnd scheduling nееds. If you require flexibility аnd immediаte аccess to recоrding, а hоme studiо cаn оffer convenience. Prоfessionаl studiоs mаy involve mоre rigid scheduling.

Finding Yоur Bаlаnce

Bаsicаlly, thеre is no one-size-fits-аll аnswer when it comеs to сhoosing bеtwееn а hоme studiо аnd а prоfessionаl studiо. Mаny musiсiаns strike а bаlаnce bеtwееn thе two, utilizing thеir hоme studiоs for initiаl creаtivity аnd recоrding demos, whilе turning to prоfessionаl studiоs for finаl recоrdings аnd mixing. Thе key is to аlign yоur chоice with yоur аrtistic vision, rеsоurcеs, аnd technicаl cаpаbilities. Whethеr you deсide to creаte in thе cоmfоrt оf yоur hоme or sееk thе еxpеrtisе оf а prоfessionаl studiо, whаt mаtters most is thе musiс you creаte аnd thе еmotions it evokes in yоur аudience.

Recording studios are more than just spaces filled with equipment and technology. They are sacred places where artists and producers come together to create music that can touch the hearts and souls of millions. In this article, we delve into the world of studio sessions, sharing stories and insights from musicians and producers about their experiences, challenges, and the magic that happens within those soundproof walls.

The Studio as a Creative Sanctuary

Recording studios have a unique aura that fosters creativity and innovation. When musicians step into the studio, they often find themselves in a world of limitless possibilities. The atmosphere, the acoustics, and the presence of fellow musicians and engineers all contribute to the transformation of musical ideas into tangible, recorded art.

Dave Grohl: The Freedom to Experiment

Dave Grohl, known for his time with Nirvana and the Foo Fighters, has spoken passionately about the studio as a creative sanctuary. He once described the studio as “an empty canvas,” emphasizing the freedom it offers to experiment and push musical boundaries. Grohl’s experiences in the studio have resulted in iconic albums like Nirvana’s “Nevermind” and the Foo Fighters’ “The Colour and the Shape.”

Rick Rubin: Creating a Comfortable Environment

Legendary producer Rick Rubin is renowned for his ability to create a comfortable and inviting studio environment. He believes that artists should feel relaxed and free to explore their creative instincts. Rubin’s work with artists like Johnny Cash, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Adele showcases the power of a welcoming studio setting.

The Magic of Collaboration

Studio sessions are often a collaborative effort, where musicians, producers, and engineers work together to bring a musical vision to life. The dynamics between these individuals can profoundly influence the outcome of a recording.

The Beatles: A Transformative Partnership

The Beatles’ partnership with producer George Martin is legendary in the music world. Martin’s guidance and collaboration with the band led to groundbreaking albums like “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.” Their synergy in the studio allowed for experimentation with sounds and techniques that revolutionized popular music.

Kanye West: Pushing Boundaries with Producers

Kanye West, known for his genre-defying music, has frequently collaborated with various producers, including Mike Dean and Rick Rubin. West’s openness to working with different producers has resulted in albums like “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy,” which pushed the boundaries of hip-hop and production techniques.

Challenges in the Studio

As time goes on, you no longer need to know how to play an instrument and know music theory in order to write music tracks. It’s enough to learn how to use a few types of programs and learn the basics of constructing music in modern genres. But it’s not easy to immediately choose a successful audio editing application that will cover all your needs and provide beginners with a minimal set of tools.

Ideally, such an application shouldn’t have a confusing interface. But at the same time, the program must have a minimum of built-in tools and effects and not turn into a pumpkin when you learn to write simple tunes and want more. Strangely enough, programs that meet these requirements can be found even among the popular free applications. Let’s tell you about the best of them.

Free Music Creation Software

SunVox

One of the most popular among free music writing applications. SunVox is a fairly simple yet feature-rich music editor. Although the first version was released back in 2002, the program is still being finalized to modern standards and is available on Windows computers and iOS and Android devices.

The main difficulty with SunVox is its confusing interface. Its modular structure and many windows can confuse the newcomer, even despite the full translation into Russian. Nevertheless, you can create quality tracks with the built-in tools – there is a synthesizer and a drum machine. There is an advanced DrumSynth synthesizer installed by default, which offers all the necessary effects (echo, chorus, reverb, flanger and so on) and many tools for experiments (like vocoder, which imitates human voice).

Also disappointing is the lack of support for the most popular audio format MP3 – you’ll have to work with WAV and rarer extensions. But this is a trifle.

NanoStudio

Unlike the previous program, NanoStudio is a handy utility for iOS devices, in which newcomers will be able to quickly understand. However, although the interface is simple, but does not have an official translation into Russian.

The functionality of the program is narrower, although it still provides control over the track and a small set of tools. You have at your disposal a more modest synthesizer with basic effects, as well as a drum machine – thanks to it you can create your own beats right on your smartphone. Despite the ability to record from a microphone, for the creation of more complex musical compositions, the program is simple and does not give the necessary functionality in the form of installing extensions.

MadTracker

MadTracker, on the other hand, is designed for its users to build their own virtual but full-fledged studio. From the serious disadvantages of the application it is possible to note a minimum of built-in instruments and presets – you have to download and install synthesizers, effects, drum machines and other necessary things by yourself.

This definitely will not scare away professional musicians, but for beginners and amateurs it can be a serious obstacle. On the other hand, the interface is quite usable and even simple, except that its old-fashioned nature will scare some people away. All of the main audio tracks are displayed prominently on the screen and fixed, that is, it is impossible to change their assignment. This limits the space for imagination when writing music, but it will not let you get confused.

DarkWave Studio

DarkWave Studio is great for creating electronic compositions: it has a user-friendly interface, a minimal set of decent-sounding synthesizers and effects, a drum machine and even a set of templates for tracks. But to work with melodies you need to understand the structure of musical scores, that is, know the notes.

It’s not necessary in order to record audio, but when working with synthesizers in this program will have to deal with the musical notation. However, the program has a built-in automated score generator, but it will hardly write a real hit for you.

At the same time, it is not very convenient to use the program as an editor for processing files – the built-in set of tools is narrow and is intended for writing melodies. However, you can always install third-party plug-ins and turn DarkWave Studio into a professional virtual studio – it is a good free option, but don’t forget about the need to know the notes for writing the score in the local editor.

Wavosaur

This completely free software solution focuses primarily on processing sound files rather than writing music. With its built-in functionality, you can quickly and easily remove gaps of silence from audio files, level out the volume, and apply simple effects (like echoes or sound filters). But it’s not very convenient to write music with Wavosaur because it has no built-in musical instruments and effects, and the interface is designed to work with one track instead of several tracks.

On the other hand, the program supports the VST plugin standard, so if you load enough virtual instruments and effects, you can compose music with Wavosaur. In this case, the convenience and simplicity of the program and its good optimization will be a plus – for most tasks you won’t need a powerful computer.

Other disadvantages of Wavosaur are that because of some interface features, the program is not very convenient for recording. This effectively puts an end to working with live instruments through this application.

Paid Music Creation and Editing Software

MuLab

This is a simple music editor whose main feature is a huge number of samples – pre-recorded sounds from which you can compose entire individual instrumental tracks. Other than that, it has a standard set: a simple synthesizer, a set of sound effects and the ability to edit tunes without having to be proficient in music notation.

Despite the fact that the program is paid, the free version is more than workable at first. It is not limited in time of use, but does not allow you to create more than four tracks with instruments (this may be not enough for writing a full composition). However, by the time the user wants to use more tracks, it is time to try something more serious.

Mixcraft

Unlike most of the programs we reviewed earlier, Mixcraft is a complete solution for creating full-fledged music tracks. However, you will have to buy the most expensive version of the program at the producer’s web-site, because only in this way the main features will be available. Among them – a large number of samples of live instruments, such as different types of guitars, basses, drums, pianos, violins and other strings. In other programs, you have to buy them separately and install them yourself.

Musicians also appreciate this app for the ability to work with sound in high 64-bit quality, while others are limited to 48 bits. This is important for those who work with music professionally and prepare their tracks for listening on expensive audio systems. In addition, Mixcraft even has video editing functionality. But compared to professional programs from this area like Adobe Premiere it is primitive.

n-Track Studio

Another popular music software among beginners. The program supports high sound quality and has a standard set of virtual instruments and effects, but still not enough features for professional use.

First of all it is about track editing – if there are no questions about the processing functionality of n-Track Studio, then the program has limited opportunities to change the melodies because of the simple editor. However, everyone can decide for himself whether these features are enough for him or not – users are given a free 10-day trial period with unlimited functionality.

n-Track Studio is available on virtually all types of devices: there are versions for computers running Windows and macOS, as well as for mobile devices running iOS and Android. However, you can use the program on several platforms only if you buy the most expensive version.

Cakewalk Sonar

The program is aimed at creating full-fledged compositions from scratch, but its functionality is particularly extensive in the area of vocals. Most of the default tools and effects are designed just to work with the recorded voice, not to create instrumental parts.

Few other virtual studio programs offer such extensive vocal processing functionality. But working with recorded audio files is very demanding, so you need a powerful computer to use Cakewalk Sonar comfortably. Also the program is distributed by subscription, which must be renewed annually, and many important processing tools like multiband compressors and equalizers are included only in its most expensive version.

All in all, Cakewalk Sonar is a real professional music creation software, and beginners should look for something simpler and more affordable.

MAGIX Music Maker

Unlike Cakewalk Sonar, solution from MAGIX, on the contrary, is focused on creation of an instrumental part and possibilities in vocal processing are very limited here. Orientation on the creation of unique melodies provided as a wide range of initially available tools, effects and samples, and a good editor. The latter allows you to change the notes and their durations without knowledge of musical notation.

Advanced audio editing capabilities are not uncommon among digital audio software, but Music Maker is also capable of working with video. From a technical point of view, Music Maker is a joy to work with, especially when it comes to supporting different formats. The program supports a lot of extensions for both audio and video files, which makes it easy to use different sources in your projects.

You can even use MAGIX’s solution to reformat files for other, more format-hungry programs. It would be too expensive to buy a subscription for that, but a free 30-day trial period is fine.

Conclusion of the article about the best programs for creating music

In the end, there is no clear cut answer as to which music production software is the best. However, by reading our reviews on the website, you should be able to make an informed decision about which program works best for your needs. We hope that this article has helped you learn more about music production software and how it can benefit your musical endeavors.

59 percent of people today spend more time on podcasts than they do on social media, and 66 percent spend more time on TV. This audio format has become one of the most relevant marketing tools that doesn’t require a big budget. What it takes to launch a podcast, how to choose a profitable niche and start promoting the product, you’ll learn in this article.

Types of podcasts and marketing potential

A podcast is an online audio format that can be listened to on streaming audio services (such as iTunes and Spotify) or websites. Each podcast focuses on a specific topic and can come in these formats:

  • Monologue – one presenter who shares knowledge, experiences, and answers questions;
  • Interview – a presenter interviews one or more guests;
  • Two or more presenters – discussion of the topic from different points of view, discussions, and exchange of experiences.

Unlike videos or texts, a podcast does not require visual involvement, making it much easier to consume. In a few years, this format has become a trend in the market. As of March 2020, more than a third of American adults (104 million) listened to podcasts monthly. More often than not, it’s on the go, during homework, or in their free time.

Following popularity is the growing marketing potential of businesses. In 2019, 55.6 percent of listeners bought a product after learning about it from a podcast. Analysts predict that in 2021, total advertising revenue from audio broadcasts will exceed $1 billion.

Preparing for Launch – Equipment and Market Analysis

The audio format doesn’t require a large financial outlay, but the marketing analysis is as thorough as any other product launch. We’ve put together a checklist of tasks for the preparatory phase.

Buy specialized equipment

  1. Microphone. A good quality USB microphone is a good place to start. Pay attention to models that allow you to customize sound effects. Price range: from $70 and up.
  2. Headphones, preferably with a noise-canceling effect. Price range: from $19 and up.
  3. Software. You can record and edit podcasts using special programs, among which there are both free (Audacity, GarageBand) and paid programs (Adobe Audition). The price range is $0 to $53 per month.

Find a great niche to develop

What is the purpose of your podcast? What will it be about? Why will people want to listen to it? These are the first questions to ask to decide on a topic and target audience. Your niche is at the point where your personal passions intersect with market demands:

  • Write a list of topics that interest you and that you know more about than others: you read trade publications, talk to experts, or are an expert yourself;
  • Consider the potential of each topic. Examine forums, blogs, and social networking communities to see how wide a circle of potential listeners is. Find similar podcasts and analyze their popularity;
  • Study your competitors’ strategies. Think about how you can stand out: your narrow specialization, your way of presentation, your exclusive information? On this difference you will build your promotion;
  • Make a so-called avatar of the target audience, that is, an average portrait of the listener: age, place of residence, education, social status, lifestyle, habits, problems he faces. This will help you choose the format of presentation and style of communication.

Plan the length and frequency of issues

There is no ideal length or frequency of an episode – it all depends on the subject matter and audience demands. An analysis of 10 million podcasts shows that the average length of each episode is 38 minutes and 42 seconds. Here are the criteria you can use to guide you:

  • Audience behavioral characteristics. Statistically, 82.4 percent of those surveyed listen to podcasts seven or more hours a week, and 22.4 percent listen more than three hours a day. Think about where people will consume content? Do they have time for long-form recordings?
  • Subject matter. How broad a field have you chosen? How often will you be able to pitch new information and find speakers?
  • Competitors. Plan a schedule that sets you apart from others. Do podcasters in your field have accepted in-depth two-hour episodes? Make half-hour episodes to your advantage.
  • Whatever schedule you schedule, stick to regularity: releasing recordings chaotically runs the risk of losing viewers. Listen to what they think so you can adjust the length of your episodes.

Come up with a name

The name of the podcast tells listeners what to expect when they click play. Here are some criteria for a name that will draw attention to the product:

  1. Short and clear: explains in simple words what the story is about;
  2. Contains keywords, by which people can find you;
  3. Emphasizes individuality: communicates specifics or differentiates you from your competitors;
  4. Easy to pronounce: you’ll be saying the name in issues, so try to make sure it’s pleasant to hear and quick to remember.

Create a cover

The cover art is one of the first impressions of the podcast. It should be unique, eye-catching, and convey the character of the product.

  • Use no more than two colors and two fonts. Try to make the shades contrasting and the lettering legible;
  • Add a logo, a major brand symbol that will help you be remembered. Not sure which emblem is right for you? Use the online Logaster generator to visualize all the ideas and choose the best one;
  • Keep it minimalist so your cover stays recognizable on any medium, including your cell phone screen;
  • Keep technical requirements in mind. The cover for iTunes and Spotify should be square with an optimal size of 3000×3000 pixels in JPEG or PNG format.

Prepare a description

Give details about your product, keeping two factors in mind:

  • Users interests. Intrigue, communicate the value, show the benefits, tell how you solve the problem your audience cares about;
  • Search engines. Spotify and iTunes algorithms rank descriptions based on keywords, so it’s worth using them in the text.

Pick music

Music tracks will be needed for the intro, the conclusion of issues, and interludes between columns in the middle. Remember that the music should be for legal use. Look for recordings with a Creative Commons license:

  1. Start with specialized free resources, such as Dig CCmixter;
  2. If the choice doesn’t suit you, more tracks can be found on paid services like Wistia, Pond5;

What do you need to consider when recording and publishing the release?

You’ve decided on the topic, positioning and prepared the equipment: it’s time to start preparing the first release.

Planning

The podcast begins with writing the script. Think through each part of the release beforehand so that you can focus only on the communication during the recording:

  • Make a plan: outline the main points, arrange them in a logical sequence, and think of smooth transitions between topics;
  • Write an introduction in detail to capture the listener’s attention: introduce yourself, name the podcast, tell them what you are going to talk about;
  • If you’re expecting a guest, prepare interview questions and think about how you’ll introduce them;
  • Plan recurring columns, such as “top industry news” or “listener questions.”
  • Think of a wrap-up: summarize, thank guests or colleagues, and announce the next issues;
  • Don’t forget about the call to action at the end: subscribe to the podcast, buy the advertised product, leave a review of the issue in social networks, etc.

Recording

The advantage of the podcast is that it’s not live, which means you can practice as much as you want by recording episodes and choosing the best one.

  • Choose a quiet place in the room and turn off the sound on your phone to avoid extraneous noise. Make sure by recording a few seconds of silence and listening to it.
  • Open the recording software, plug in the microphone, and set the sound settings. Try speaking into the microphone and make sure that the sound amplitude indicator does not fluctuate too much – otherwise there will be sudden volume variations in the audio.
  • Start with small excerpts and listen to them right away to make sure of the quality.

Editing

It’s easy to edit the audio track in the same program you recorded it in. Combine episodes, add music, cut pauses, bad phrases, or repetitions. Stabilize the volume and remove background noise with the settings. Then move on to the technical parameters you need for exporting and quality listening:

  • Select the bitrate, that is, the sound conversion settings. The higher the bitrate, the higher the quality of the sound, but the bulkier the file. The optimal value is 128 kbps.
  • Set LUFS – the volume level of the audio track. It is recommended to choose 16 LUFS for stereo recordings and 19 for mono.
  • After you finish editing, save the file in MP3 format.
  • Insert ID3 tags that contain additional information about the file and will be displayed on the screens during playback: podcast and episode name.

Publishing

You cannot upload a podcast directly to iTunes or Spotify. To do that, you need to upload the file to a cloud hosting service and create an RSS feed for it.

One of the most popular cloud services for audio files is SoundCloud – upload an episode there, add the title and description, and include it in your RSS feed. Then copy the link to it, go to the service where you are going to publish the recording, click “Add” and paste the link.

Promotion

To make your business a success, think about how to attract listeners and monetize the product. Statistically, people learn about podcasts from these sources (in descending order of popularity): ads on another podcast; friend recommendations; social media or website; mobile app; and recommendations from Influencers. Try to use more than one channel:

  • Talk to other podcasters with similar target audiences and arrange for cross-promotion.
  • Be active in themed communities on social networks, but don’t advertise openly. Communicate, demonstrate expertise, share experiences, and occasionally mention your product.
  • Add a link to your project on your website, in your email signature, talk about it on social networks.

How to use music in film without copyright infringement

Copyrights for music in movies cost a lot. It’s hard to imagine how much it costs to buy songs in American blockbusters, when even some production companies in Canada spend about CA$130,000 on the soundtrack. There’s nothing surprising about that, though. Want to use the music of Adele, Lana Del Rey and The Offspring in a film? Pay 25,000 euros for each track, or even more.

But what do aspiring filmmakers who make money with little or no budget do? How do you legally use music in movies and where do you find it? There are several ways.

Trying to get permission from the copyright holder

At first glance, this may seem like an impossible task. Will artists like the band “HLEB” or Little Big, for example, give permission to unknown artists? It all depends on your persistence and desire. Well, it depends on luck too!

All musical groups and solo artists have agents through whom you can solve all questions. Surely before approval you will be asked to send a script for your project and find out in which part you want to use the music. If negotiations are successful, then sign a written agreement, after which you have a legal right to use music in your film.

By the way, you can negotiate with foreign producers and musicians too. Use ascap and bmi.com to see who owns the rights to a particular song.

Taking music under a Creative Commons license

There are six types of Creative Commons licenses:

  1. Attribution – CC BY: As long as the author of the original work is credited, the music can be distributed, edited, used as the basis for other works, and used for commercial purposes;
  2. Attribution Share Alike – CC BY-SA: As long as the original author is credited, the music can be distributed, edited, used as the basis for other works, and used for commercial purposes. Important: when using this license you have to put the Copyleft mark, which means that your own work should not be covered by rights either, if you use “copyleft” material;
  3. Attribution No Derivatives – CC BY-ND: as long as the original work is attributed, the music can be distributed and used for commercial purposes, but cannot be edited and used as the basis for other music;
  4. Attribution Noncommercial – CC BY-NC: as long as the author of the original work is credited, the music can be distributed, edited, and used as the basis for other works, but cannot be used for commercial purposes;
  5. Attribution Noncommercial Share Alike (Attribution Non-Commercial – Copyleft) – CC BY-NC-SA: as long as the original author is credited, the music can be distributed, edited, and used as the basis for other works, but cannot be used for commercial purposes and cannot be used to close the rights to use your work;
  6. Attribution Noncommercial Noderivatives – CC BY-NC-ND: under this license you cannot use someone else’s work in your project.

Using public domain music

At this point, copyright is assigned to a person during his or her lifetime and for the next 70 years after his or her death. After that, the author’s music becomes in the public domain. Such are the invariable classics of Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Vivaldi and many others.

It is worth noting separately that it is better to look for the original compositions, rather than a phonogram, which may have been recorded by the orchestra 5 or 10 years ago. There is a neighboring right to use a phonogram, so you have to be careful here: on the one hand, there are dozens of orchestras that are similar to each other, so it is quite difficult to trace infringement of rights. On the other hand, the classics performed by some artists, like Vanessa Mae, are so specific and recognizable that problems can arise.

By the way, it’s not just a classical work that can go into the public domain. Some authors deliberately give up their rights and transfer their music to the Public Domain.

The largest library of tracks in the public domain can be found on the MuseOpen website.

Create or commission your own music

This is the surest, albeit most energy-consuming, way not to infringe on someone’s copyrights to music. There are 2 ways: you can either find a novice composer who is interested in writing music for your film for a small fee or even free (for the sake of your portfolio), or you can work out and record music yourself. You can only find composers so far on stacks like Audiojungle, Deezer, and SoundCloud. To create your own tracks, it is better to use available audio editors: for example, SunVox, NanoStudio or MadTracker.

Conclusion and summary of the review

Hundreds of new podcasts appear on the market every day, but despite the competition, creative ideas continue to resonate. Think through the value of your project to listeners, the difference from the competition, and engaging content – and gain an audience. We wish you interesting topics and loyal listeners.

Did you know that music can influence your CFD trading? Well, today, we are going to discuss different ways in which music can affect or influence your trading experience. People’s musical preferences contributed significantly to the general market behavior. Some traders prefer R&B, rock, soul, and others enjoy pop. According to a recent study, people who listen to songs with complex lyrics tend to worry less, while light music makes people cautious.

The following are different ways in which music influences CFD traders:

Noise Reduction

Most trading rooms are noisy, making it unbearable for some traders. You can reduce or block destructive noises by listening to music via headphones. Listening to music will help you to remain objective and reduce the tension caused by outside noises. This technique works for CFD trading and any other activities that require serious attention.

Mood

We all have days with bad and good moods. A bad can be a result of continuous losses in the previous day or anything. While this is understandable, one should not dwell on it for long as it can affect your daily activities. Listening to music when in a low mood can help to cheer you up. The lyrics of a song can enable you to stop worrying too much.

Taming You

Some people have a problem with taking breaks during trading sessions. While this is recommended for refreshing, it can also be disruptive. You can avoid this and increase your trading time by listening to music. When you play your best titles, you won’t want to miss the lyrics, and this will tame you in the office or work desk. However, not all songs are suitable. You need to get specific songs to listen to.

Focus

CFD trading involves serious data analysis, calculations, interpretations, and repetitive tasks. The best way to remain focused while doing all these activities is to listen to music. This fact has made many corporates replace televisions with speakers in their offices. Experts have explained how the level of dopamine in the brain increases when a person is listening to music. This chemical reaction increases focus and attention time.

Caution

As mentioned earlier, music can help you to become more cautious in whichever activity you are doing. Good songs can help you to turn things around in your favor. Many songs have won Grammy Awards for assisting people to become cautious.

Get Familiar Music

If you are going to listen to music when trading, you must have a playlist with songs you are familiar with. Listening to new songs every time can be destructive and can prevent you from focusing. The advantage of a familiar rhythm is that it helps your mind to stay tuned and reduces suspense. However, this comes with some drawbacks. Listening to the same songs every time will make you master the lyrics and end up singing along instead of concentrating on market trades.

Low Volume is Best

Even though music is recommended for concentration and focus, it should not be set at a maximum volume. In fact, high volume kills creativity that is needed to interpret market curves, manipulate figures and run other activities. Loud music is not completely bad. You can listen to loud music while handling lighter activities like cleaning, washing your car, and gardening.

Instrumentals Works Wonders

Listening to instrumental music is recommended when you are dealing with mind-intense tasks, such as CFD trading. This kind of music elevates your focus and attention to every detail that is required. Playing instrumental music makes one smarter, relieves stress, boosts confidence, and improves memory.

Conclusion

CFD trading is growing popular each day. People are looking for different strategies to maximize their profits while trading. Out of the many techniques, listening to music is highly recommended for beginners and expert traders. As often said, music is food for the soul and mind. Good music helps you relax, focus, and become cautious of future eventualities. The exciting thing is that modern technology makes it possible to create music using stock market curves. You only need computer software to create your own hits. Also, there are excellent forex market songs you can listen to online as you trade.

Sony Music Entertainment – a brief history

Sony Music Entertainment is a global music company that has associations with some of the world’s most popular artists. The company was founded in 1929 as the American Record Corporation and later became known as CBS Records. In 1988, it was acquired by Sony Corporation and renamed Sony Music Entertainment.

Today, Sony Music Entertainment comprises three record labels: Columbia Records, Epic Records, and RCA Records. The company also has a joint venture with Bertelsmann Music Group, which includes Arista Records, Jive Records, and RCA Victor.

Some of the artists currently signed to Sony Music Entertainment include Adele, Alicia Keys, Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen, Carrie Underwood, Celine Dion, Demi Lovato, Jennifer Lopez, Barbra Streisand, and Yo-Yo Ma.

In addition to its record label business they have many other services. For example, Sony Music Entertainment has a music publishing arm, which owns or administers the copyrights to more than three million songs. The company also operates several online music services, including Sony Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited.

Reasons why Sony Music is still successful today

Sony Music Entertainment has long been around as one of the “big three” record labels. It’s seen its share of changes in the music industry, from the advent of digital music to the current trend of streaming services. But despite all these changes, Sony Music has managed to stay afloat and even thrive. Let’s look at some reasons why Sony Music is still successful today.

Sony Music has a long and storied history in the music industry. It was founded in 1929 as Columbia Records, and over the years, it has acquired or merged with other labels such as Epic Records and RCA Records. This gives Sony Music a vast catalog of music to choose from, which is one of the reasons it’s been so successful.

Another reason for Sony Music’s success is its focus on artist development. Unlike some labels that are just looking for the next big hit, Sony Music takes a more long-term approach with its artists. They sign artists that they believe in and then work with them to help them develop their careers. This has resulted in some very successful artists, including Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, and Bruce Springsteen.

Sony Music has adapted to the changing landscape of the music industry. While other labels have struggled to keep up with the rise of digital music and streaming services, Sony Music has embraced these changes and found ways to make them work for them. For example, they were one of the first labels to offer their music on iTunes and created their own streaming service, Music Unlimited.

Sony Music also has a strong international presence. The company has offices in more than 40 countries, and they sign artists from around the world. This gives them a global reach that other labels can’t match.

Finally, Sony Music is just a really good company to work for. They offer great benefits and job security, and their employees are some of the industry’s most passionate and talented people. That’s why so many people want to work for Sony Music, and it’s one of the reasons why the company is so successful.

All of these factors have contributed to Sony Music’s continued success in the music industry. It’s a company with a long history and a bright future, and it’s one to watch in the coming years.

The different types of music Sony Music Entertainment produces:

As one of the “big three” record labels, Sony Music Entertainment has a vast catalog of music to choose from. The company produces all kinds of music, from pop and rock to classical and jazz. Below are some examples of the different types of music Sony Music Entertainment produces:

2. Rock: Columbia Records is home to many popular rock artists, including Bruce Springsteen, Nirvana, and Pearl Jam.

3. Classical: Sony Music’s classical labels include RCA Victor and Epic Records. Some artists signed to these labels include Yo-Yo Ma and Andrea Bocelli.

4. Jazz: Sony Music’s jazz labels include Blue Note Records and Portrait Records. Some artists signed to these labels include Miles Davis and John Coltrane.

5. Country: Sony Music’s country labels include Columbia Nashville and RCA Records Nashville. Some artists signed to these labels include Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley.

6. Hip-hop/rap: Sony Music’s hip-hop/rap labels include Def Jam Recordings and Roc Nation. Some of the artists signed to these labels include Jay-Z and Kanye West.

7. Electronic: Sony Music’s electronic labels include Ultra Records andK7 Records. Some of the artists signed to these labels include Calvin Harris and Skrillex.

How Sony Music Entertainment is changing the music industry:

Sony Music Entertainment is always looking for new ways to innovate and stay ahead of the curve. Below are some examples of how Sony Music is changing the music industry:

1. Offering music on new platforms: Sony Music was one of the first record labels to offer its music on iTunes. It has also created its streaming service, Music Unlimited.

2. Working with new artists: Sony Music is always looking for new artists to sign. In recent years, the label has signed a number of popular electronic artists, including Skrillex and Calvin Harris.

What is the music industry?

The music industry is a global business that has experienced rapid growth in recent years. It includes companies and individuals who record, manufacture publish promote sell songs to consumers all around the world through various mediums.

What are the different types of businesses in the music industry?

There are four main types of businesses in the music industry: record labels, recording studios, music publishers, and performance rights organizations.

Record labels are companies that sign artists to record and release their music. They provide funding for recording and promotion and often control the creative direction of an artist’s work. Major label companies include Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, and Warner Music Group.

Recording studios are facilities where musicians can record their music. They are usually owned and operated by record labels, but many independent studios also exist.

Music publishers are companies that own the rights to songs and compositions. They handle the business side of an artist’s career, such as licensing their work for use in film and television and collecting royalties when their songs are played on the radio or streamed online.

Performance rights organizations are groups that collect performance royalties on behalf of artists and songwriters. These organizations include Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI) and the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP).

What is the history of the music industry?

The music industry has undergone several major changes since it began in the early 20th century. The advent of new technology, the rise of independent artists, and the growth of digital platforms have greatly impacted how music is created, distributed, and consumed.

The earliest days of the music industry were focused on sheet music sales. Music was typically published in songbooks or as single sheets that could be played on pianos or other musical instruments. In the early 1900s, record companies began to emerge and sign artists to record their music onto wax cylinders or shellac discs. This new technology allowed for the mass production and distribution of music and helped to fuel the popularity of radio in the 1920s and 1930s.

The Great Depression and World War II halted much of the music industry’s growth. But by the 1950s, the industry was booming thanks to the popularity of rock ‘n’ roll and the emergence of new genres like rhythm and blues and country again. The 1960s saw a further industry expansion with the rise of psychedelic rock and Motown.

The 1970s brought major changes to the music industry with the advent of punk rock and disco. These new genres challenged the dominance of rock ‘n’ roll and led to the formation of independent record labels that were willing to take risks on new sounds. The 1980s saw the rise of MTV and the popularity of pop music, while the 1990s brought Nirvana and grunge and ushered in a new era of digital music consumption with the advent of file sharing and Napster.

The 2000s saw the continued rise of digital music, with iTunes and other online stores becoming the primary way people consume music. The 2020s have been defined by streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music, which have transformed how people listen to music.

How do artists make money in the music industry?

Artists can make money in the music industry through several different channels, including record sales, live performances, royalties, and licensing their work for use in film and television.

Record sales were once the primary source of income for artists, but this has changed in recent years as streaming services have become more popular. Artists typically earn a small amount of money each time their song is played on Spotify or Apple Music. They can also earn royalties when their songs are played on the radio or used in TV shows and movies.

Live performances are another important source of income for artists. They often earn a percentage of ticket sales and merchandise sales at their shows. Some artists also have endorsement deals with companies that pay them to use their products or wear their clothing.

Artists can also earn money by licensing their work for use in film and television. This typically involves the artist agreeing to allow their music to be used in exchange for a one-time payment or a percentage of the project’s profits.

What are some of the challenges facing the music industry today?

The music industry has faced a number of challenges in recent years, including declining sales, piracy, and the rise of streaming services. These challenges have led to a decline in revenue for many companies in the industry.

Record labels have been struggling to adapt to the changing landscape of the music industry. They have been losing revenue as CD sales decline and people turn to illegal downloading or streaming services. In addition, the major labels have been slow to embrace new technologies, such as digital downloads and streaming.

Independent artists have been able to take advantage of the changing landscape of the music industry to find success outside of the traditional record label system. Many independent artists are using social media and the internet to build followings and sell their music directly to fans.

The rise of streaming services has had a major impact on the music industry. These services allow people to listen to music for a monthly fee or for free with ads. This has led to declining sales of CDs and digital downloads, as people no longer buy music outright.

What is the future of the music industry?

The future of the music industry is uncertain. The industry has faced several challenges in recent years, and it is unclear how these will be resolved.

The music industry will continue to face pressure from technological change and the rise of streaming services. Record labels and other companies in the industry will need to find new ways to adapt and grow to survive.

Independent artists are likely to succeed more in the future as they can bypass the traditional record label system and connect directly with fans.

The popularity of streaming services is likely to continue to grow as they offer a convenient and affordable way to listen to music. This could lead to further declines in sales of CDs and digital downloads.

Video gaming is big business these days. Both as a hobby and a profession, people have begun to gather in one place to play video games for fun. This can only go up as the years pass by.

In this ever-growing industry, there is more demand from players to listen to the latest tracks from their favorite video game characters. They can also download them on their phones through Spotify or other music streaming services.

If you’re one of those who like to game and listen to music simultaneously, you might wonder how to choose a playlist that suits your gaming mood. Here are a few things to remember when selecting video game songs for your next session.

1. Consider the Game’s Genre

The first thing you should think about when choosing a playlist is the genre of game you’re playing. Games can be into several genres, each with its feel and atmosphere.

For example, role-playing games (RPGs) are often set in medieval-esque worlds with fantasy elements, while first-person shooters (FPS) tend to be in modern or future worlds with more action-packed gameplay.

The music you select should match the tone of the game. If you’re playing an RPG with a lighthearted story, you might want to choose some upbeat tracks that fit the cheerful mood.

On the other hand, if you’re playing a dark and gritty FPS, you might want to go for something a little more intense. No matter what game you’re playing, there’s sure to be music that fits its vibe.

2. Consider the Game’s Setting

The setting of a game can also be important when choosing a playlist. For example, games in outer space might have a more electronic or synth-heavy soundtrack, while games in the Wild West might have more acoustic tracks. If you’re unsure what kind of music would fit the game you’re playing, look at its setting and see if that gives you any ideas.

Also, remember that some games let you choose the setting, such as in open-world games where you can explore different areas. In these cases, you might want to have a few different playlists on hand to switch things up depending on where you are in the game world.

3. Consider the Game’s Characters

The characters in a game can also be a good indicator of what kind of music to choose. For example, games with cute and cuddly characters might have more lighthearted music, while games with edgy or bad-ass characters might have heavier tracks. If you’re not sure about the tone of the game, take a look at its character design and see if that gives you any clues.

Most gamers have their favorite characters, and often these characters will have their theme songs. If you’re a fan of a particular character, you might want to look for tracks that feature them prominently. This can be a great way to get more invested in your game.

4. Assess Your Mood

Of course, the most important thing to consider when choosing a playlist is your mood. If you’re in the mood for something upbeat, go for it! If you want to listen to some calm and relaxing music, that’s fine too. The great thing about video game music is that there’s a wide variety of genres and styles to choose from, so you’re sure to find something that suits your mood.

When in doubt, try out a few tracks and see how they make you feel. You might get surprised at how certain songs can affect your gameplay.

5. Consider the Game’s Atmosphere

Another consideration should be the game’s atmosphere. This is closely related to the game’s genre and setting, but it’s worth considering separately. The atmosphere of a game is the overall feeling or mood it gives off. Games can have all sorts of different atmospheres, from intense and suspenseful to lighthearted and cheerful.

Don’t forget to take the game’s atmosphere when choosing a playlist. After all, you want the music to enhance the experience, not take away from it.

6. Consider the Length of the Game

The game’s length is also something to think about when choosing a playlist. If you’re only planning on playing for a short period, you might not want to listen to an entire album’s worth of music.

On the other hand, if you’re planning on playing for several hours, you might want to have a longer playlist. You don’t have to keep switching things up.

7. Consider Your Playstyle

Your playstyle is also worth considering when choosing a playlist. You can play games differently, from fast-paced and action-packed to slow and methodical.

How you play the game might dictate what kind of music you want to listen to. For example, if you’re the type of player who likes to take things slow and explore every nook and cranny, you might want to choose a more relaxed playlist.

On the other hand, if you’re the type of player who likes to charge into battle and take down enemies.

Time to Enjoy Gaming with Music!

With these considerations, you should have no trouble picking the perfect songs for your next gaming session. Just remember to have fun and experiment with different tracks until you find something you enjoy. There’s no wrong way to play video games, so do whatever feels right for you!
